The coat of a puppy is relatively soft, but shows signs of corded-like curls. It can take up to two years for the cords to form completely and five years to reach the desired length.
The Komondor is characterized by its imposing strength, dignity, courageous demeanor and pleasing conformation. It is generally reserved and serious with strangers but demonstrative with those he loves and will defend them against any attack.
Their gait is light, leisurely and balanced. They take long strides and are very agile and light on their feet. Owners should be willing to provide daily exercise, obedience training and lots of grooming.
Like its celebrity look-a-like, the Komondor’s coat takes quite a bit of care and time to look presentable.
